It needed to shout out but it was suppressed,

The heart.

It needed to weep but it was drained,

The eyes.

It needed to hold but it was laid bare,

The hands.

It needed to be loved but it was deceived,

The girl.

It needed to be damned but it was forgiven,

The boy.

Instead

Flipping papers instead of flyers,

Evaluating ‘stead of bird-watching,

Reading academics 'stead of gossips,

Riding deep into thoughts 'stead of the road,

Hinting a possible theme 'stead of jokes,

Mocking myself 'stead of a smile.

Hanging out with books 'stead of friends,

Brooding theories ‘stead of composing,

Listening to the nullness ‘stead of music

Sitting motionless ‘stead of dancing,

Mumbling alien words ‘stead of singing,

Racing time ‘stead of gaming.

Starring at the screen 'stead of the moon,

Clicking left & right 'stead of photographs,

Updating my inbuilt ‘stead of a status,

Trouble shooting 'stead of love making,

Concentrating ‘stead of daydreaming,

It’s just me studying ‘stead of sleeping.

The Walk

Carrying you in my heart
Late in the evening,

Under a yellow tinted streetlight

Beneath an umbrella,

Along the red-checkered sidewalk

Under an early September rain,

Beside the crowded traffic,

Amidst the honking noise.

Walking… threading…

Dreaming… Brooding…

Remembering… forgetting…

The present… the past…

You… me…

Not long after a minute or so,

Found myself landed safely home,

Still carrying yours in mine.
